#3DS and Kurta IS/One
6 messages in this thread
Can anyone help?
I am have just started to use 3D Studio, with my Kurta Tablet configured
for 'relative' mode. I am using a VGA monitor in single screen mode.
All works well until until I use the renderer. Rendering proceeds as
normal, but my keyboard and tablet lock up. I cannot use the space bar to
toggle to the 'rendering in progress' screen, and I cannot 'ESC' back to
the 3D Editor after rendering. I lock up completely, and I can't even get
back to a DOS prompt with a three fingered salute. Only the power switch
is of any use.
All works fine if I just use the cursor keys, so the problem almost
certainly lies with a conflict between Kurta's TSR driver and 3DS. Kurta
claim their driver to be Microsoft Mouse compatible, and it works well …
until I use the Renderer. I enclose the relavent lines from my 3DS batch
file:
SET PATH=%PATH%;F:\ani;C:\kurta
k_mark
k_isps
k_change -sc:\kurta\aa.sam
f:
cd \3ds
3DS
k_change -r
AA.sam is the scaling and macro file which I use for Animator. It gives me
no problems with Animator, and should work with 3DS too.
I am using KURTA IS PENSMITH Version 6.2Z which is compatible with
Microsoft MOUSE.COM Version 6.2.
If anyone can help me here, it will save me an international call to Kurta.
Thanks
Andrew Bichard.
Andrew, if you can get your hands on an actual Microsoft Mouse for a test,
that would be the best first diagnostic you could do. If it runs well with
the M Mouse, then you know it's the Kurta (although I'd be surprised, since
a number of 3DS users are working with the Kurta).
If it doesn't run with the Mouse, get back to me with your complete
hardware and operating system configuration and we'll see if we can figure
it out.

Yost,
I am trying out Jeff Masters suggestion first, then I will try again with a
mouse. I don't have a M mouse, but I *do* have a logitec and I will give
that a spin.
I do however suspect my problem is some kind of conflict with my Kurta
driver or macro file because I have no problem if I just use the cursor
keys.
I will mess around during the day and get back tommorow first thing.

Andrew,
I've had pretty good success with the Kurta, I'm using the driver that came
with my MS mouse and using the P5 button to mouse emulate.
I would check with Kurta in January.

Andrew:
I'm using the Kurta IS/One and 3DS with no problem. I am not, however,
using any of the Kurta's macro stuff. My autoexec.bat loads kurta as
follows:
c:\kurta\k_isps
That's all (no k_mark, k_change, etc.). Try running k_isps "clean" (no
macro, etc.), and see if that works.

Jeff,
I have just tried that, and it doesn't work for me. I think that k_change
modifies K_isps permanently each time it runs and writes back to disk. My
K_isps is probably different from yours. Is there any chance you could
send me yours by email to try out? Maybe it will work if I re-install from
the master disk.
