Has anyone installed a "fatest" Agnus in an AMIGA 2500? If so please tell
me what it takes to get it to recognize 1 meg.
On another matter, has anyone installed 2.0 on a system with a 2090
controller? Apparently this does not work quite the same as with a 2091
controller on a 3000. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I've done both:
To get the system to see the extra CHIP RAM, you've got to move one
jumper (Jumper Pad J101) from pins 1-2 to pins 2-3. You've also got to cut
the trace between Jumper Pad J500. JP 101 is located directly above the
68000 chip about even with the front edge of CN400 (the point where the
power supply plugs into the motherboard). J 500 (simply 2 pads with a
trace between them) is located slightly left of the front left corner of
the left 8520 CIA chip (U 301 I believe).
As to the installation of 2.0 on a 2090 equipped A2000 (or 2500 for
that matter)…I did the installation by hand since I'd made quite a few
changes from the "standard" setup. For example, I had very small OFS
filesystem partitions on my 4 HDs. I ended up re-PREPing the drives and
making the entire drive FFS.
BTW…on an A2500, you MUST replace the ROMs on the A2620 or A2630
board with Rev 6 or 7 ROMs. Those ROMs should be available at your
dealer's now, the list price is $33 for the ROMs.

Thanks, I was able to get my agnus chip to recognize 1 meg with
your infotmation. Since I had posted the message and the time I read your
reply I had figured out what my problem was with the hard drive and was
able to get that going.
I was aware of the need for the new rom chips on the acclerator
board since I a currently running my 2500 in 68000 mode. It looks like it
will will be a while before I get the new rom chips from Commodore. I had
forgotten how slow things could be. I should dust off my 1000 more often
to keep in mind how slow things can be.

The new A2620/30 ROMs are now available at your dealer's (presuming
they ordered them in the first place).

Don – do you have the phone numbers of any good dealers in your area
(Denver, isn't it?) who might be willing to take a phone order on the A2620
v.6 or greater ROM's? If these ROM's, which are purported to exist, don't
show up soon in the Detroit area, I may try phone ordering them from

We've installed 2.0 on a 2500 with a 2090A controller. What sort of
'difficulties' are you having?

During a momentary bout of insanity I assumed that Commodores new
hdtools software would, for some bizarre reason, be compatible with the
2090 controller manufactured by Commodore for the AMIGA. Upon returning to
sanity I dug out the old 2090 hdprep routine, figured out that I could use
the new formtter routine, and all went well from there. However, thanks
for the willingness to help
