#ANIPRO SPEED PROBLEM
7 messages in this thread
I recently purchased ANIPRO and have found that when using 640/480 256Color
modes with large delta animations (full screen changes) the animations run
fast enough in ANI but slow down when played with either ANIPLAY or AAWIN
the windows player. Can you tell me why this is and how I can get the same
performance from the player as I get when running my animation in ANIPRO.

Clay,
Aniplay does not load flics into memory by default. If you write a
script file and tell it to do so they will play much faster.
AAWin was to my knowledge, designed to play 320X200 flics only,
because of the speed constraints of Windows itself. This is the extent of
my experience. Hope it helped.

<<AAWin was … designed to play 320X200 flics only>>
It will play any size animation. The resulting speed of play back is up to
windows, your hardware and your personal kharma.
Has it caught up with other WIndows animation programs yet for speed?
Well, I haven't seen any other Windows Animation Players, so I can't answer
that question.
Ted, I have tried loading them into memory with the same results but it is
not only the player program for Windows but also the DOS version
ANIPLAY.EXE. If I load a flick into Animator (640/480 larger delta) it runs
noticeably faster than if I run it in either the dos player or windows
player programs. Whatever the algorithm is for ANI.EXE it should be used in
ANIPLAY.EXE and AAWIN.EXE. The whole package is excellent but this speed
increase would make it much more useful. Thanks, Clay
Ted, Ignore my last message. I reread your message and I misunderstood
your comment about ANIPLAY. I will try this and see. Thanks. Clay
