One of my friends purchased an A-3000 and an AT Bridgeboard. At the time he didn't realize there is no bay available to install the HD 5-1/4-inch disk drive. Therefore he has been unable to bring up the DOS system to install the operating system on his HardDisk. He does have an external 3-1/2-inch drive available, but the system will not recognize it as A: so he is stymied. He can obtain an standard external 5-1/4-inch but does not want to invest in one since he wants an HD unit. What does anyone suggest?

Bill, Your friend should be able to get a 3.5" drive to be recognized as drive A: by the A2286. The drive cable and jumpers have to be correctly set, and then use the setup utility on the A2286 to set Diskette 1 to 1.4M. Use Ctrl-Alt-Esc while on the BB screen to enter the setup utility. Hope this helps, 8) David
