Apple has a support site on the internet where you can ftp the 800kb
version of the System 7 disks (& don't forget TuneUp 1.1.1). So if you
have access to the internet, just ftp to 'ftp.apple.com' (I hope I've
remembered the name right!), and get on as an anonymous user. The files are
under the /dts/mac directory, there are a couple more subdirectories below
that, but I can't pop the names off the top of my head.
By the way, I got a chuckle out of a MacWeek editorial last spring:
"Quality is not job 1.1.1".
Perhaps a little harsh, any operating system will have bugs, especially a
major rewrite like System 7. Apple is open to criticism for having to go
from 1.1 to 1.1.1 in only a week since the TuneUp 1.1 which was released
was the WRONG DISK! Then they didn't publicize the problem since they
didn't think many people had gotten 1.1. They weren't paying attention to
how many users take advantage of their ftp site.
