Robin, that 100K can come from Extended memory instead of high or conventional memry if you are not using a program like Desqview. Use the MSCDEX /E switch.

Bruce, Yes, I am using /E with my current, single-disc, setup. What I need to know is how much more memory does the -604x take compared with single-disc. robin

Bruce, FYI, the Extensions memory usage for buffers when using the /E switch is ~15K system memory (+ a small amount for each drive letter) + 8 KB per drive letter of EMS (that Expanded memory, not Extended memory). Chris

Thanks Chris. In my machine MSCDEX uses 16,128 bytes of high memory and 256 bytes of conventional memory when I use the QEMM LOADHI command and the /E switch.
