#SB Pro and New Win3.1???

I have an interesting problem (@#$@#) installing the Soundblaster Pro. The
Wave and MDI driver won't install or run under Enhanced mode. It generates
a "need new version of Win 3.1" message or "divide by zero" in a few cases.
It loads and runs okay under standard mode.
I've completely unloaded all drivers and reloaded them without any
improvement.
This is from the Multimedia Start Kit. As best I can tell the drivers are
the latest compared with various sources here on Compuserve.
Suggestions?

Rud, I have the SBPro on my system with Windows 3.1 … no problems at all.
However, I do not have a CDROM connected to the SBPRO, so there may be a
difference. Nonetheless, your message indicated trouble with the other
features of the card, and I gathered that you were trying to use the
drivers that came with the card. When I bought my card, it came with
drivers for Windows 3.0 only. When I got Windows 3.1, it came with drivers
for the SBPRO, so I didn't need drivers from Creative Labs. So try to
install the drivers from the Windows installation disk. Use the control
panel and select the drivers icon. Install the Sound Blaster Pro drivers
and everything should work OK.
You'll have to use the WinApps that came with Windows instead of the apps
that came with the SoundBlaster. Also, you should find the section in
WIN.INI that is placed there by the installation disks with the
SoundBlaster and remove it completely, as it is not necessary with the 3.1
drivers. It's existance can confuse Windows programs that try to ascertain
whether you use 3.0 or 3.1 drivers by searching WIN.INI for that entry. I
had this problem with my daughters KID PIX program.

Thanks for the suggestion. I may try that later if I can't get this "new
Win 3.1" resolved. Right now I'm not doing all that much multimedia so I
may simply ignore the SB problem. I really just *needed* the CD-ROM for Win
SDK and other stuff and figured getting the entire multimedia setup was the
most economical and easiest way to go.
