Margo, What is the deal with the newest Windows Nautilus? .mid files won't play, avi files and .wav files give an error message about filenames being longer than eight characters. Mike

Mike — This is strange indeed! I haven't heard of any problems regarding any of the multimedia files (MID, WAV or AVI). Here's some of the standard things I'm gonna have to ask you: 1. Can you be a bit more specific about what you were doing (ie, opening XXX.WAV in the Sound & Music section)? 2. What happens if you use Media Player to play the same file? 3. If the previous disc (2-12) worked OK, try putting that one in and trying to play some file off of it, too. What's the result? 4. Did you change anything in your system (eg, updated a sound or video driver, added some sort of card (modem, network), etc)? If you open the Link book, you can send us a copy of your system info (copies of your SYSTEM.INI and WIN.INI, etc). Click the Preferences button and be sure all the checkboxes are marked. Then click Link to send the system info – and perhaps a note reiterating the problem you're encountering. Margo Riedel Nautilus
