Something odd is happening. When I uploaded that last message my term program reported "File size 1247 & Bytes Xfer'ed 1280" (Completed 102%(!)) Further, when I tried to edit it, I was not able to replace a word but got a message "? Unexpected character after end of command." Mean anything to you?

XModem is worthless in todays world. It is a very old program that is prone to error. It only handles files in 128 byte blocks, and if the file isn't exactly that size, it adds junk (padding) to fill out the last block. That means that if you download an arachive from the libraries here on CIS (like filename.LHA or .ARC, etc) they won't unpack properly because junk has been added to the file by XModem!
