Hi all. My 1080 monitor just quit after 8 years. There was a small flash from the back and now the power won't come on. I opened it up (power disconnected of course) and found two fuses (the old auto type) but they were intact. Nothing else looks fried. Anyone have any ideas on what else to check before I toss this in the can?

The standard answer around here is to check the solder lugs where the power supply/ horiz. output mount to the mother board. Also check around the on/off switch. Very unusual that such a flash didn't take a fuse with it. Gary on AutoPilot from Charlotte, NC

Thanks Gary. I checked those areas and (using my eye) nothing looked bad. I thought for sure it would have been those fuses, but no. Oh well, I can't complain after 8 years of service. Ya know I paid five bills for that back in '85. It looks like a have a line on a used one for $75. Thanks again. John
