Thank you for all your advice on color printers Wolf. I downloaded
your file CANV2.DMS (which for other readers of this note, contains a
full disk of printer drivers for most of the Canon printers,
including an instal program and "Canon Studeo" for printing directly
from the file) and found that it contained an excellent driver for
the BJC-600 and was also a mine of information. Having got the
driver, I then bought the BJC-600 and find that it does a very good
job. Good text in whatever color you want. Good graphic output with
very little banding. I now see how "Shingling" works; a line is done
with firstly the bottom half of the print head and finished on the
next pass with the top half of the print head. The only problem I
have is that I am not able to correct the color violet with the
controls provided. It is too red. I may well have missed something
in the 80 odd pages of the manual. Thanks once more! ps. I wrote
the above more than a week ago, but I have got a new modem, a US
Robotics 14.4 Fax/modem and have been having all sorts of troubles
since.
