Thanks for your help. I double checked according to your directions, but none
of the files you mentioned were on my WorkBench2.0 disk. I did find one of
them (Translator.library) on the 1.3 disk, but the other two were not there
(however, I probably have a "minimal" set of 1.3 files; they came on the
startup disk with a piece of commercial software.) Earlier, I was able to find
something called narrator.device on the 1.3 disk, which is supposedly required
in order to make SpeechToy2 work. However, I still can't get SpeechToy2 to do
anything. Do you know if narrator.device needs to be put on the MountList or
something? Thanks again,

Take a look at the latest AmigaWorld (1/94) p. 10 for an explanation of
what happened to speach on the Amiga… and what to do about it.
I have checked my copy of 2.04 and all the files are present on the 2.04
Workbench disk. L:speak-handler, Devs:Narrator.device, and Utilities/say.
Note that it is only the Workbench disk that has the files, although the
directories are also present on 2 of the 3 other disks in the set.

Hope you don't mind my jumping in, especially since I missed the beginning
of this thread, but have you checked all the simple things like: Is the
sound turned up? Have you connected the audio output jacks to your
monitor/sound source? Don't mean to insult you, but sometimes these
things are easy to overlook.

Actually, it's *Rick* that can't get it to work, we're just trying to tell
him how to find the files.
