#Scaling Merged Animats

Greetings, how 'bout some help please. I created a complex animation that has objects moving and scaling in relation to each other. I then tried to merge that animation into another scene but the merged objects are way out of scale with the new scene. If I scale and adjust positions for the entire merged animation, when played each object seeks its original (non-scaled, non-positioned) key in the final frame. If I try to adjust them independently then the previously created animation sequences for each object is lost. This seems a rather obvious problem and once again–brain fries… Thanks, Chris

Without seeing your specific data, I can't really tell you exactly what you're doing wrong. Perhaps one of the other forumites has an idea of what you should do. Have you tried scaling the incoming animation before merging? And… when you're scaling and changing position, are you using the ALT-key to change the entire track? – G

>> …scaling the incoming animation before merging? << The problem I had when scaling either before or after was if you scaled all objects in the Editor to an axis that was off center, the final position key in the keyframer never changed. Scaling the objects never scaled the paths. Using the <Alt> key didn't work because you then had to do each object individually and their original relationships to each other were then lost. Jonas' suggestion to link all objects to a dummy worked great though. I can see though if I were to merge an animation with a large number of objects, it could get tedious. Any other ideas for scaling, rotating, or moving multiple objects without losing their original orientation to each other??

Hi Chris, I've had success with creating a dummy object, attach everything to the dummy and then scale the dummy. Jonas
