imagine 2.9

Ok, I've played with 2.9 a bit more, and before my 2cents of suggestions, let
me say "cool beans!". the PS font import is super! So is texture/brush
tacking. You folks have put in some real power tools, here. So for niggling
improvements: I second the menu bypass for Quickrender. Maybe somewhere in
preferences a flag to have quickrender always do the same thing (I use a FC24)
so that the render would just GO. And a very hearty second to letting us
eliminate the gadgets we don't want. There are many tools I'd prefer having
on-screen. Not that the deformations aren't great; I just use other things
more often.
An even better change would be to buffer object data in the stage
editor, so that objects would not have to (re)load each frame. Now that quick
edges are in, it takes longer to load objects than draw them (I know, some of
us are never satisfied).
On a separate note: What's the kosher way to use Imagine on more than
one machine, and maybe a mix? Any "site license" deals for using Amiga and PC
versions at the same location? Thanx
and now for bug squashing:
1) Problem with path editing in STAGE: Select a path in the stage editor,
go to edit path mode, select a point/knot to edit, and use the Trans-
formations editor (numerical settings) to make changes in the position
and/or alignment of the point/knot. The changes do not seem to "take";
the path has not changed. Rotating and dragging interactively seems to
have no problems at all.
2) Possible confusion on my part, but in the STAGE editor, using "solid"
perspective viewmode (old mode), animations are made with "quickedges",
not the full "solid" wireframe preview of objects.
3) The time/date of pics rendered (via the INFO gadget) does not match the
Amiga clock.
4) I know you're aware of Postscript Type 1 conversion problems. For what
it's worth, my fonts from Monotype convert nicely, a font I got from
The Font Company, as well as Agfa fonts converted to PS1 with Saxon
Script and/or Pro Page's type manager do not load or convert.
