OK, I must be doing something wrong, and I need help to get straightened out! I am trying to change the color map of a picture using ADPro. I modify the palette and get the exact picture that I want, but when I try to do an "Apply Map" or "Execute", ADPro insists on trying to rerender the picture to my new map. The problem is that I am trying to change the colors, I don't want ADPro trying to see how close it can get to the original. Specifically, I have a 16 color picture that I am trying to convert to black and white. For it to look right, there are some areas where light colors need to be made black and others where dark colors need to be made white. By playing with the palette, I can get this. However, when ADPro finishes rerendering, I am left with useless blobs. What is the correct way to do this using ADPro. I know that I can do it by loading the picture into a paint program, but I am trying to learn how to use ADPro. BTW: The ADPro line art operator doesn't quite give me what I am looking for. Thanx – Chris

Lock the palette. With the palette unlocked, ADPro has no way of knowing that you don't want it to pick colors.

I do lock the palette. ADPro is not changing the palette. But it is remapping the colors. It is not leaving my color assignments alone. Chris

With a locked palette, ADPro will not do that. Are you sure it's locked (in the palette window)? Maybe I misunderstood your posting.

I imported a 16 color "cartoon" type picture. I locked the palette and modified the colors to all be either black or white. This gave me the image that I was looking for. However, when I went to print, the original unmodified image was printed. To apply the modified palette so that I can print it, I have tried using both "Apply Map" and just "Execute". Both gave the same result. They converted the picture to blank and white, but not the way that I had set it up. As far as I can tell, the problem is that, in modifying the palette, I changed some dark colors to white. When ADPro tried to apply those changes, it looked at the original image, found a dark color, looked at the new palette, found black, and changed the color to black. It did not use the mapping that I had created. What am I doing wrong? Thanx – Chris BTW: This is ADPro 2.2.

Use RenderedToRaw to convert the image the way you want it.

Thanx, RenderedToRaw solved my problem. It may just be me, but it wasn't (and still isn't) obvious when you need to use RenderedToRaw. Thanx – Chris
