There are "patches" for nearly every program that uses a dongle.
All I can say is that, once the 3ds.exe program has been tampered with in any
way, the data structures destabilize in DOZENS of different ways. That means
that anyone using one of these patch programs is never going to be able to do
any production work with their patched version of 3ds.
Note that even some viruses can modify the program and thus destablize the
program similarly.

Don't get me wrong, I wasn't looking for a patch, I was simply reporting a
possible avenue of bootlegging that your legal dept. might have been interested
in.
