WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! WARNING!!! etc. Hello Amigas and Amigos. This is <CB>. THIS IS NO JOKE, PLEASE TAKE THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE SERIOUS!!! It's my sad duty to report to you guys/gals in the U.S. that there is a new virus present on the Amiga. This $%&*# thing is NO mutation of the SCA virus, although it lives and spreads itself on the boot blocks. If you boot from an infected disk, the virus attaches itself in front of the BeginIO() routine of the trackdisk.device. So, whenever you insert (or have) an unprotected disk in any drive, it'll be infected!!! The virus also links itself into the VerticalBlankInterrupt and does some checking of some counters. We have a nearly completly commented disassembled listing of that (any addjectives go here) available, AntiVirus2 from us should be in DL9 (as AVII.ARC) soon AND we'll forward the source (of the virus) to Bill Koester at CATS. (Larry Phillips, could you forward that thing on UseNet for me???) (Or to keep things less complicated and provided that there is such a thing as in-house communication at C=A <grin>, how about Dave Hayne or Andy Finkel forwarding this thing??? Replies, please!) We're not sure what that virus is intended to do (we'll let you know soon), but it's surely nothing nice. It was obviously programmed by somebody calling himself "Byte Bandit" (look at block 0), just wait 'till I get my hands on him, after I'm through with this creep, he's gonna miss some vital organs! Now a message of relief for you FastMem owners: That (I'm running out of curses) virus will NOT work properly with FastMem (that's what saved me in the first place), when trying to infect your disks, it'll usually crashes the machine. <CB> (howling mad) – The Software Brewery – W.
