Hi, folks– The following is from the Internet mail-list rocks-and-fossils. Anyone have an answer for this fellow? –Doug Subject: Colorado Anatase Date: 16-Dec-93 at 12:19 From: INTERNET:prichard@heidelberg.edu Does anyone out there know of the anatase locality in Gunnison County, Colorado? It is mentioned in Dana and more recent texts and collecting guides as a locality for large, well-formed anatase crystals. I have been there and found not single large complete crystal, though large incomplete crystals bounded by cleavage surfaces are common. I am interested in writing a small article on this locality, and would like to measure and draw the supposed well-formed crystals. I found a few in the 2 mm size range. Do you know of larger ones? Museums in Denver, at Harvard, and the Smithsonian all report that they only have incomplet crystals. R. Peter Richards prichard@heidelberg.edu
