does anyone out there know where i can find some accurate
geographical/topographical models in either dxf or 3ds (or anything!). i
particularly need the San fransisco peninsula…there's got to be someone out
there with what i need, but i'm not too sure how to start looking… thanks and
happy holidays everyone!!! mike
Mike – There's a forum for a company called VRLI (GO VRLI) with a product
called VistaPro which has a model of the San Francisco Peninsula. Or you can
write the author direct: John Hinkley 72466,1403.

We carry 3 arc second topo data for the whole lower 48 states available
on a 3 CDROM set. May be able to source one region as well. We have done alot
of terrain data. Call 1-800-252-1024 (303-759-1024) ask for Ward.

The San Francisco peninsula is available in VistaPro DEM format.
Within the month, a version of VistaPro will be available which will
output landscapes in DXF format. The data that VRLI has is 30 meter
resolution, which is approximately 1 arc second between data points. (At
that latitude)

Maybe you could scan a topographical map of SF peninsula and give it texture
with GIFDXF.

That's certainly theoretically possible, but it would be difficult on
my Amiga 3000. <grin> John has the DXF handling working on the latest
VistaPro, we're just waiting for it to cycle through the pipeline and
become available to the general public. Shouldn't be much longer.
