#EGS-Spectrum
2 messages in this thread
I am having some problems with the EGS Spectrum software (I think). Any
time I try to test a screen mode from EGS-DisplayAdjust which is greater
than 16 bit depth in 640×480 or 8 bit depth in 800×600 my computer locks
up and reboots. My system is an Amiga 4000/030 with 2 meg chip and 2 meg
fast, and a 2meg EGS Spectrum. The monitor is a Panasonic C1381i
multisync, which syncs between Hor. 30-38 kHz and Vert. 50-90 Hz. I
suspect I might need more fast ram.
NB: I run a DBLNTSC Workbench, and use mode promotion as standard
procedure.
Also, the EGS-Info program lists no Gfx unit, and 0 mhz max frequency.
This does not make sense.
Thanks.

Mark,
Please re-install the Spectrum software in EXPERT mode, so that you can
verify that the proper CPU-based libraries are installed. Also add these two
lines to S:Startup-Sequence, immediately AFTER ";END EGS" and BEFORE the
"IPREFS" command:
echo >con:
wait 2
And that ought to do it. The stuff that you reported from "EGS-Info" is not
meant for diagnostics. You can check that information in the "EGS-ScreenMode"
program when you hit the DRIVER INFO button. If you need anything else,
contact GVP Technical Services at 215-354-9495.
