We are using a Canon CLC500 to print .tga files from 3DS and other graphic packages. Is there any 'rules-of-thumb' applicable to setting up a 3DS file so that chosen RGB color on screen is optimized on the final print? Thx Kevin

Kevin, Firstly, USE TGA FILES!!! We use both a 500 and 550 here for output. The main consideration you need to make is the software used to RIP them to the Cannon. We use PhotoShop and Illustrator on a MAC Quadra 950 with 40Mb RAM (Hey, the right tool for the right job! <g>). In PhotoShop, convert the image to CMYK so you can properly Gamma-Correct the image. The canons tend to be a little "Hot" on the Magenta pass, and subsequently this channel needs to be brought down. Yes, 3DS3 has gamma control, but remember that YOU are ultimately going to be responsible for the GAMMA! Hope that helps, Chuck

Kevin – Since I have no experience with the Canon you use, I will have to admit that I can offer you no useful advice. My rule-of-thumb would be to urge that you follow what Chuck has told you <g>.
