#application hooks?

we develop vertical market software for the funeral industry. from time to time
we've looked into developing a product for cemeteries that would integrate
database information with on screen mapping. looks like '94 will be the year to
get it done.
a few years ago I checked around over in this part of CIS and got a lead on a C
library from Sirling to creat an AutoCad map viewer. that is certainly one good
approach. recently a prospect sent us information on a facilities management
package that indicates it hooks to new database features available directly in
AutoCad.
what possibilities exist to write an application in C++ that integrates map
information with database information? is there in fact now something available
directly from autodesk? who would I contact to learn more?
Frank – I'd look into Authorware by Macromedia. Creating kiosk-style
interactive information screens is incredibly easy, using graphics, sound,
animation, branching logics, you-name-it. FWIW

don't see them in the Programmers' Shop catalogue. do you have any more
information?
what exactly do they have? we have applications done in Borland C++ using
BTrieve for a data retrieval engine. we'd like to hook into map information
from autocad (or gis or windows graphics or whatever) files, and we'd like not
to reinvent the wheel. what is Authorware, a Library, a code generator???
Authorware is an object-oriented multimedia programming/scripting interface. It
can call C routines and tap into databases. I saw an impressive set of demos a
week or two ago. It's not cheap ($5K), but is VERY easy. There are 9 tools,
period. Learning curve is almost nonexistent. If it's not too much money for
you, take a look at it. There are Mac and Windows versions. Hope that helps.

well I'll save the message for future reference, but it doesn't seem like it's
what I'm looking for. I'm more interested in whether there are hooks in
autocad to attach a database information to autocad drawings.
