#AMax-IV Here! But…
4 messages in this thread
Well,
Santa came today, from ReadySoft! My AMax-IV upgrade. So I installed the
chip and the software effortlessly. Upon rebooting, to activate the AMax
Init, my 2500 just goes in to a never ending cycle of initial gray screen
flashes?
Previously , my AmaxII+ hardware and software proved un-usable on this ver
6.2 motherboard. I guess (?) it still is.
Have to wait till Monday to call ReadySoft.
So close and yet so far to Mac emulation.
Happy Holidays to all.

Jan,
This might be a silly question, but why in the world would you spend money
on an upgrade to a program that doesn't even currently work in your
system?
Michael,
No, it's not a silly question. AMax II did work at one time in this
system. Then I had an old (4 years old) external harddrive that I was
using (with AMax) go bad, for reasons never fully explained by the
manufacturer (ADIC).
The Amax II+ did work in another Amiga, flawlessly, so I thought the 2091
may have gone bad, I got another 2091 but the symptoms persisted, and AMax
still wouldn't work.
I sent the Amax back to ReadySoft, who found nothing wrong with the board.
Since that time, I have had on order (since October), from the Grapevine
group, a new rev 6.2 motherboard. That's the only thing that has remained
constant.
All in all, for my purposes, creating large photo-quality, multi megabyte
images and outputting them with hi res Canon CLC or Iris printers at a
service bureau, AMax is the most cost effective means to that end.
Of course all this would be moot if Cross Dos would support Syquests. 😎
Again, all I really want to do is transfer 10-20 megabyte files to and
from a service bureau, and maybe occasionally do something in PhotoShop.

Jan,
Ah, ok… I hope that the motherboard swap does it for you.
