Uh – Yeah! I just got around to downloading that gif tonight. It looks great!!
OzCis displayed it as a stylish white on white monochrome image, but PaintShop
Pro handled it just fine.
I bought the three 7.5 minute quads (Sheridan, Socialist Valley, and Laurel
Mt.) last night that will take me from Hwy 22 to the quarry. There are a _ton_
of other quarries in the area – some on jeep trails. I'm looking forward to
getting down there. Now the bad news – snow is predicted down to the valley
floor Friday night and I have to work Saturday. 🙁
Maybe we can get together and head down there after the May MMS meeting…

Interesting topo list–Socialist Valley! What goes on in that part of Oregon?
Yeah, the gif should show some nice orange stilbite, white/clear quartz and
black background. hope it worked out that way.
Yeah, I would like to play around there some more. I visited several of the
quarries from Dallas to Salem area in '92 & '93. If the PNW Chapter of FM takes
an official trip to Kings Valley in '95, be sure and go. Those pillow basalts
have some fabulous analcime with chabazite and apophyllite.
Apparently Kris Dennis has found a new one with more goodies, I don't know what
yet. Also the other quarries around Mill Creek are apparently barren, although
Kris did find some small scepter quartz in one.
If you get the chance go to the Rickreall quarry (some where around Dallas I
think), it has some very nice material too (really nice clear zeolites).
Unfortunately the road is only open during a month or so for hunting season,
otherwise it is accessible by a long walk.
