Penello alpha

Hello
Im working with the Penello demo, trying to decide if I want it.
Ive pretty much answered the questions I had by observing the
previews, except for how alpha works, which I assume can only be
observed with the fully operational software.
I want to layer V.P. queue entries that have been brushed by
different Penello settings for each entry. I want to use alpha areas
in each layer to let the previous layers show through. Heres the
question. If the source image for a Pennelo brushed queue entry has
an alpha channel, how does that channel change after the image is
brushed? What I envisage doing is having black (or another solid
color ) areas of each source image be transparent. After brushing
creates irregular edges of these black (alpha) areas will the
resulting brushed queue entry be opaque in the non black areas and
transparent in the black areas?
If the question is not clear let me know and I will try again. Im
pretty much ready to buy Penello if the transparent areas of each
queue entry are animatable from within the program.
Also heres a suggestion, support .ifl file lists for sources and
brushes. .Ifl is a powerful 3DS tool.
Im working without the manual because I dont need a T shirt.
Thanks in advance, Ed
