Per your advice, I obtained more memory for my system and updated my PREFS.HSH
to reflect the change. I went from 16M to 24M. You mentioned that in order to
get NO rendering problems, I must have at least 20M. Well,.. I get the same
error during a rendor.
The error:
Increase Prefs memory!
The .cho has multple actors which are simple squares which have pictures maped
onto them. There are probably 10 of these. I have a Pentium 66 and Playmation
2.0 (NOT master). So what's the deal?
I just spend $700 on memory because YOU recommended it for your product.
Eric…
Have you set your prefs.hsh file to say "memory=20000"? It should be set 4 meg
under your system memory of 24Meg. The program reads the number in prefs.hsh
as KB. Be sure you saved it before you closed the file.
Also, if you're using Windows 3.11, your cache shouldn't be set much higher
than
5000KB, if you're using 32-bit file access.I also find setting Virtual Memory
to none
helps in rendering times…VM only slows things down.
Hope that helps.
