#PharLap 64Mb Limit???

Hi, Mike!
thanks for your answer
>>Dos has a 64mb limit. You can get bt this limit by using Qemm.
I have doubts about accuracy of your information.
DOS by itself without extenders has limit 640Kb (1Mb), not 64Mb.
And, yes, QEMM helps to break this barrier, but it has nothing to do with 64Mb.
If there was 64Mb limit, it would be imposed by PharLap (by 3DS using PharLap,
to be more precise), not by DOS. I don't see, how QEMM would help in that
situation. According to Gary Yost, it's not the case: 3DS doesn't have this
limitation.

P.S. There is another 64 DOS limit: 64Kb data chunks. QEMM doesn't help with
that one either.
<<Dos has a 64mb limit. You can get by this limit by using Qemm. Make sure you
run the Qemm memtest on a clean boot first.

What I was getting at was the limit that DOS emm386 limit would be 64 mb and
Qmm will go beyound that limit. I was just seeing if this was what you were
getting confused about pharlap and memory. 3d Studio can utilize 1 gig of mem
with a mem mang.. other then emm386. The 64 k limit is the limit of mem that an
single IPAS can use.Sorry if I didn't make my self clear enough.

A-ha! I see. So you are telling me, that the guy, who triggered this rumor
was using DOS's emm386. Thanks a lot. I'll reask him.
Why then neither DOS's nor 3DS's nor PharLap's Docs mention this 64Mb
limit? And what is The Reason behind it? (I understand, what is 1Mb, 64Kb, 4Gb,
but what this 64Mb comes from ?)

P.S. I am so careful about limits, because some time ago I upgraded my
ISA system to 16Mb and my ATI Mach32 stopped displaying 24bit color images
under DOS, which it was capable of with 8Mb (reason was: memory apperture
address)…
