#Ball Mapping….How?
3 messages in this thread
Hi to All.
I am creating some Objects to a Sport muiltimedia product.
I need to create all kinds of balls (Basketball, Soccerball,Volleyball Etc.)
when I try to apply a Spherical Mapping the Top of the ball is allways
stretched in. which mean I can't map a ball and turn it around.
Any Ideas?
With Thanks
Sus.

I believe that you'll find clues to this problem by reviewing..

Title: Example of spherical map making – Soccer ball
Keys: SPHERICAL MAPPING MAP MESH SOCCER MATERIAL SURFACE JKJ
"JKJ's Low Resolution But Otherwise Mostly Excellent Soccer Ball": an example
of
creating a planar bitmap to be applied spherically. Contains a 3DS file with a
soccer
ball material applied to a sphere. Get the material from the scene to play
with it.

You might try lofting a closed half-circle with mapping coordinates on – the
results are often better than spherical mapping.
