Hello Brick, Just to report that my system also exhibits the "can't restore a long animation" problem. I tried copying a 1000+ frame ANI to HD and back, and everything after frame 896 was zapped. I've got the 1Gig Micropolis drive on the PAR, v 1.30b. The PAR is in a Gateway P5-66 (Intel motherboard), 36Meg ram, ATVISTA-4M, ATI-AX0 video, Qlogic PCI SCSI controller, NEC 3Xi CD, Artisoft Noderunner w/ Lantastic 5.0, Diaquest 50P, DOS 6.2 JKJ

John, I understood from the DPS-people that they have been able to duplicate/simulate the 896-frame/restore-problem on their own system and the softwarepeople are working on it. There will be a solution soon Sorry to jump in this way, but i thought you would like to know CIAO FOR NOW Theo

Thanks for "jumping in", that's what makes this forum so interesting. I'd heard that they were working on it, so I was hoping my particular hardware configuration might help with the quest. Even with problems like this, the PAR has greatly improved life on this planet, don't you think? JKJ

John: I have essentially the same hardware as you do and I DO NOT have the frame >896 problem. I am using a Gateway P5-60, Micropolis 2217A PAR drive, SCSI DOS hard drive. PAR software: PAR initializer V1.13 PAR.HEX V1.10 PARDRV V1.4 PAR.EXE V1.09 I use DOS to move files back and forth. I'm still using v1.09 drivers 'cause I know where most of the spike filled pits are. You might want to try the older drivers and see if the problem is there.

>>use older PAR drivers… That might help to see if the problem was with the new software only. If so, that might be an easy temporary fix – use the old software to backup and restore and use the newer to operate. JKJ
