Night video
5 messages in this thread
Help! I am trying to find some type of video camera (camcorder, security
camera, etc.) that will work in very low light conditions, particularly at
night. I am trying to catch on film someone who has been repeatedly vandalizing
my car at night. Any help would be appreciated. If I am not in the right forum
that would be nice to know too. <G> Cost IS a factor. Thanks.

Jon:
Someone here may very well be able to answer your question, but you might also
try the consumer electronics video forum (GO CEVIDEO). Also, some cities have
stores which specialize in this sort of thing. I know where I live (Birmingham,
Ala.), there is a story called "Spy Supply," which sells all sorts of gadgets
to do things similar to what you're talking about.
Good luck.

Thanks David. I found a security camera that needs only .05 lux to operate, do
I think it will work.
Thanks again,

Jon,
The Canon L2 Hi-8 Camcorder has a mode where they refresh the CCD only
every 1/8th of a second allowing it to capture considerably more light at
the expense of some "jerkiness" The L2 is kind of pricy though at around
$2500 or more.

John,
I think I found what I needed; a .05 lux security camera. Thanks for your
reply!
