Mark, I've heard of the Sundance Edit Controller (mainly because of its ability to control the NewTek Video Toaster, but I am sure that it controls many other switchers/MAC proprietary items) and the Future Video V-Station for the MAC. There are probably many others out there possibly including some that use VLAN technology, which I really love for its capability to work with multiple software interfaces on multiple platforms. I have used the V-Station Product on the Amiga and Windows and to me it is a comfortable and productive Edit Controller. I don't think it can ever get to 0 frame accuracy because it does not sync to your reference signal. They have cuts-only solutions starting for as low as $695, if I remember correctly, and A/B Roll Systems for about $1000. Future Video can be reached at 714-770-4416. Now, just looking through their product literature, I do not see the Sony UVW series supported, however you might call and ask. Re: Sundance. I think I just got a letter from them describing a new version of their product, but don't seem to have it laying around here. Let me look around a bit and I'll get back to you with more information. Hi Mark, Videomedia offers the OZ editing system for Macintosh. V-LAN hardware is used to connect the Mac with the video devices. The Hardware is also compatible with other software applications including Adobe Premiere, Topas, Macromedia and MacAnimatorPro. The V-LAN hardware for Macintosh is external and does not use any buss slots, it simply connects to the modem port. You can even use the hardware on other computers platforms. OZ offers full VTR control, you can create an EDL, save and recall the EDL from disk. You can create comments and search your EDL by notes. The system can be used as cuts, A/B Roll with GPI, A/B Roll with serial switcher and/or audio mixer contol. Video in a window is available with the A/V series Mac or you can use RasterOps add on video boards. This gives you a heads up display with the video and your editor all on the mac screen.
