I am a novice in this area, and I have been interested in using DTV in teaching
my language classes. I have just bought Performa 638 cdtv, and I am wondering
if anyone could help me understand what exactly I will be able to accomplish
given the capabilities of this system.

I am not all that familiar with that particular model, but I believe what
you will find is that it has a video in/out as well as audio in/out and an
editing package, something like Adobe Premiere. This can be a neat, fun,
and informative combination, by the way it is called non-linear video
editing, and will allow you to record video and audio to the hard disk
drive of the computer, re-arrange bits and pieces of it, add titles and
graphics and then re-record the finished "movie" on to video tape. The
