Thanks for the reply!! "AFN" now only refers to the European Network – the names keep changig, but the job stays the same… DId you have a SFC or 1sg or SGM Bill COstello as your boss in Japan? He's since retired, and one of the Big Cheeses in Tech here in Europe. ANY dirt you might have against him, we'd love to throw out at him at the next Division Chiefs Meeting…

Daniel, It's been too long ago (25 years). I don't remember the guy's name who ran the station, we just called him "Sarge". I was a high school student, a Navy dependent, at a Marine Air Station when the Marines were not allowed to have their dependents overseas (because of Viet Nam). So, to keep the few high school aged males (there were 10 kids in my high school) from spending all their free time in the red light district (Iwakuni was a favorite R&R spot) it was decided to let us have free rein at the radio station. They had 4 hours daily of local programming (the rest being fed in from Tokyo) and we had 2 hours of that. -sja
