Has anyone out there been able to render a scene with fields that uses MIRAGE without it looking like doggy doo? The only other way I can think of to do it would be to render everything without fields, then process the frames again to field them. thanks -Kyle

Dont know what exactly you are trying to do but I have had good luck with Mirage and Fields. I used it for a Satelite that cloaks into view while crossing a planet face. Worked great. Of course it took some testing to get the ripple and wave settings set the way I wanted, and I alson had to render a sequence of the Satelite alone with alpha split on so I had an animated mask for the effect. I uploaded a segment of this in LIB 18 called SATH1AH.ZIP (I think that was the name, search for keyword SATELITE). Bill

Hi Robert, It seems to me that Mirage is filtering an image that has been fielded (2 sets of fields), so then the fields don't work correctly when I record them to my VTR. everything looks really jaggy around the edges, almost blocky. thanks for your input -Kyle

Kyle – Not sure which effect you've used, but I've used waves and ripples, both field- and frame-rendered with no problem. Bob
