John,
>>>On old QB-DOS invoices where complimentary product was given away, we'd
choose an item, then either erase the quantity or set the price to 0.00. Under
QB Win's reports for "sales by item", these invoice items display strangely.
The erased quantities show up as -1 in the report, but examination of the
invoice shows it erased. The zeroed prices show as -0.00 in both the report
and the invoice.<<<
QBW tracks inventory, so when you place an item on an invoice and don't specify
a QTY, we assume that it's a sale of 1, or a reduction in inventory of 1 (-1).
Normally, the reports flip the sign around as you would expect a sales to be
positive. In the case that you also charge nothing for it, the Sales by item
gets the sign wrong. The inventory report is correct. This problem is being
addressed. The work-around is to remember to force the sign by using a QTY of
1.
