#problems: ACAD->3DS3
3 messages in this thread
I am working on an architectural project in 2D in AutoCAD which I want
to import into 3D Studio, change to 3D and then render. Every time I
attempt to import and shape, the render identifies the entire drawing
as one object. I need to find the best to organize the different
elements so that 3DS will reconize them as seperate elements. I
think that I do need working CAD drawings but I'm not sure, assume
that I don't. Thanks
Jeff,
If all your Acad work is in 2D, then you want to dxf the 2D info out of Acad;
the wall lines, for instance, then load dxf into the 2D Shaper.
Next, go to the 3D Lofter, set a path length to the wall height and
Shapes/Get/Shaper. Object/Make with the name wall01 and your finished wall
appears in the 3D Editor.
A better way would be to create the 3D in Acad by changing the Thickness of
the wall lines to the wall height in Acad, put the wall lines on a layer named
wall.Then dxf the info out.
Go into the 3D Editor and do File/Load, pick dxf and import the walls, using
the by layer option, directly into the 3D Editor.
Good luck

Ted,
You may want to export different layers as separte files. Or use different
colors. Need to organize before export. Pedit lines & solemesh your objects.
