The Flyer theoretically could store 21*9*5 (21 SCSI Devices at 9GB
each at 5 Minutes of Loss-less D2 quality per gig) or 945 minutes
(15.75 hours) of video and audio. As hard drive prices continue to
fall this may become a more realistic scenario than it is right now
for most people. Also, if you are running an AmiLink Edit
Controller, they are definately hard at work creating a system that
will integrate the Flyer into your linear editing environment.
Amilink will probably come up with a system that allows you to log
your tape via normal machine control, and then auto-digitize the
clips that you want onto the Flyer and finally add titles, effects,
etc. and "play" it out to your recorder.
I have been playing with the Flyer for about a month now and am amazed
at the speed with which you can edit in the non-linear world. IMHO,
it allows the editor to be a lot more creative in the same amount of
time.
