Thanks for the info, Larry. It sounds like you have a good set up. What is a
video toaster?
Sandra
The Video Toaster is a product made by NewTek which I don't know too
much about. The Video Director setup for it uses the com ports to
communicate with it though.
I have found a way to get around the GPI trigger problem which I had
told you about earlier. I discovered that if I insert a WAV file
effect, I can have the audio que me as to when to press the buttons
on the devices that would normally need to be triggered. I guess you
could call this the poor mans GPI controller, but till I can write a
GPI driver and rig some hardware to the parallel port, it will have
to do. By using different sound files, I can tell which device I
need to trigger.
I just received a Video Blaster RT300 today and guess I will have to
send it back. I had tried to order a PS200 but no one had it in
stock and this was supposed be a newer version, but it does not
support video overlay and the Video Spigot I am using does all the
Blaster does and was $100 cheaper. I am trying to get a capture card
that is compatible with the Video Director so I can use its
storyboard feature.
Do you find the EditMaker a bit difficult to make changes to the edit
list, or was I missing something when I tried to get mine to work?
Have you been to any of the Videonics Seminars? Do you have any plans
to include a mixer in your setup?

What is a Video Toaster? Just the coolest tool ever invented for
Desktop Video, as a matter of fact the Toaster basicaly invented
Desktop Video. It's hardware & software that runs on a computer you
can hardly buy right now, but why nitpick? The Video Toaster is a
3-400 effect Switcher, Character Generator, Paint Program, Genlock,
3-D Animation program, and more. With the Flyer it can be made into
a complete On-Line(Broadcast Quality), Non-Linear(video on hard
drives), Editor. I'd be happy to send you some literature, if you
E-Mail back with your address. Sincerely, Don James TCR
