#WarpEngine SCSI Problems

My NEC 3XE has a 50 pin centronics connector on it, the supplied cable has
a 50 pin centronics SCSI II connector on one end and a 25 pin DB-25 on the
other. I was lucky to find a local PC dealer that had an adapter that has
a 50 pin ribbon connector on one end that connects to the WARP and a 25
pin male connector mounted on a slot cover along with 2 RCA phono plugs to
connect the audio to. That is good until I have a use for the one
remaining slot.

I think SCSI-2 requires all 50 lines wired through to the external drive.
That's why Macs have that peculiar high-density DB-50 connector.
I'd REALLY like to find a way to connect a 50-wire ribbon cable from the
Warp's SCSI connector to some sort of 50-pin connector I could mount on
the A4000's rear wall.
As it is, I'm looking to hang a Centronics-50 on a ribbon cable slipped
through a crack somewhere….

The guys who built the Warp Engine told me that they were going to sell
just that kind of a mount, I have long since given up on that. After about
four months of, "it will be ready in about three weeks," I stopped calling
but they might have done it. Give them a call.

They are ready and we have two of them in use (SCSI-2 50-pin HD Connector). In
addition, I found out that CEI also has an interface as well. Both screw into
the "Expansion" port on the back of the A4000.

That is almost great news. It would be great but, since I plane to use
my Flyer as the SCSI controler, now I will have three ribon cables hanging
out the back.

MacroSystem's original plan was to make available a high density DB-50
SCSI-II setup which would be mounted at the "knock-out" where the DSP
connector was suppose to go. But I have the flat ribbon cable going out of
the back of the 4000 with a Centronics-50 connector. From there it is
normal centronics connectors to the external SCSI case. Seems to work just
fine.

I have the NEC 3xe's DIP switch set to SCSI-II and it is working. The
cable that NEC supplied had a DB-25 on one end and a 50 pin centronics on
the other. Actually the 50 pin end may not actually be Centronics as it is
very small, not like the size of a centronics printer connector. The
person at the computer store said that although they have 50 pins, at this
time only 25 are actually used. Go figure. Anyone else have additional
info on this?

Congrats on finding the bracket! The only one I ever saw was part of a
cable package that came from Mediavision for $50.
