I'm just a watcher, looking forward each day to read the postings on this
thread. I take your postings exactly for what they are: your personal
opinion peppered with a healthy dose of pent up jealousy! Give Jim a break
will you! Statements such as "PC emulation that he claims to have running"
is nothing but a puerile and unfair attack on one of the brightest stars
still shining on our favourite platform. Thank whoever there is to thank
there is a Drew and UU.

I expected anything but that. How could I be jealous of something that
has yet to be proven to exist? 🙂
Regardless.. I never stated that any of my postings should be taken as
fact. The value of my postings and my opinions are left up for the reader
to define. I am simply asking questions here, and trying to show an
alternate view on things.
Clearly I didn't reach you–but thanks for the posting anyway. 🙂

I don't understand what you are saying here. It is true that PC emulation for
Emplant has been advertised for a hell of a long time and that it isn't
shipping. Seems like fair game for egg throwing to me, regardless of any other
of Jim's accomplishments.

We are all grateful for Jim's continued enthusiasm and support of his Mac
Emplant – it's obviously a great product – but we have been hearing about the
PC emulation for months now without seeing any results. Jim tends to be very
optimistic about production dates, and that's unfair to people who buy the
product because of the promise of multiple emulations and only get one.

I don't think anyone is jealous about Jim Drew and his company, UUI. I
certainly am not. ;-} He has an excellent emulation product, which in some
ways, is better than the original! For what he and his company has done,
Bravo! However, his statements about "Amiga International" and CEI is what is
troublesome to some of us. Instead of uniting the Amiga community, it seems
that he is directly or indirectly trying to divide loyalties. Even more
troublesome is his seeming unwillingness to start a dialogue with CEI about the
"problems". As you have read through the messages, if he can come up with the
Amiga clone, more power to him! Some have said that he couldn't do Macintosh
emulation right. He proved us wrong, although it took him a bit more time to
do it.

Given the problems he had getting the Mac emulation running, Emplant does a
great job. Jim p*ssed a lot of the early adopters off with the buggy software
and the problems he had getting it right. THe question I've been asking is
this–which would be worse, releasing the 586 emulation early (a la Mac) and
letting users fight through the bugs, or announcing it way ahead of time (and
even take advance orders for the thing!) and then not ship it for months?
I've had to ask myself why he even bothered mentioning the damn thing in the
first place if it was nowhere near ready. I'm sure people have been bothering
the bejeebers out of him asking "Is it soup yet?"
