#PC TO AMIGA

To all the helpful people;
I'm looking for a comm program for my amiga, I've found a couple in
this forum but I have one problem. I'm using a pc! HOW can I copy
it from my pc hard drive to my amiga? Keep in mind I do not have a
comm program for my amiga. Can you help? Do you know anyone that
can help? PLEASE SEND HELP!!!

All you need to do is copy the program to a 3.5 regular density (not
high density) disk. Then, using either CrossDos or by mounting PC0:
(if you have 2.x +), just copy that over to your Amiga. 8)

What version of the Amiga OS are you using? If you have 2.1 or later, you have
a built-in ability to read 720K MSDOS floppies with your Amiga drive. If your
OS is older, then your best bet would be to buy CrossDOS (about $20-30) for
your Amiga, which lets you do the same thing. Once you have it installed, you
can read or write MSDOS disks with the Amiga and can transfer anything between
the machines so long as it will fit onto a 720K floppy.
From your ID number, you appear to be from England, right? If you belong to
ICPUG, you can order public domain software free from the copier assigned to
your part of the alphabet. All you have to do is send him a blank disk in a
reusable mailer along with a return-address label, postage, and the name of the
disk you want copied. If you don't belong to ICPUG – you are missing a lot of
great information, software, and fellowship. Great group.

Thanks for the info my AMIGA OS is to old my ver is 1.3. What I need to know
then is there a terminal program for the amiga? Or how can I use my modem with
the amiga?

Ron,
We have a library full of term programs for the Amiga. A good one to use on
CIS is BACKTALK. It will also work for general purposes, but lots of people
like TERM, and others have other favorites. I would suggest that you look
through the Communications library for one that you like.
If you can manage it, you really should update your Amiga. The operating
systems beginning with 2.04 have many, many features not included with the
earlier systems and it will make your machine far more fun to use. Also, most
of the newer software in the libraries and also in the stores are written to
take advantage of these new features.

For the rest of you, John B. is the national chairman of the ICPUG
organization, and Pete Miles was, until very recently, its Amiga
librarian. Pete runs a little hotel at Charmouth on the Dorset
coastline, and about twice a year, his hotel is filled with ICPUG
members for a computer holiday. I've attended a couple of them and
they are great fun.
