Paul, > and perhaps think it is wrong under any circumstances, but maybe allow as it's possible that they are wrong and that in any case it's the woman's choice. Whatever a person's views on abortion are, from a legal standpoint, it is NOT the woman's choice. The government is interested in protecting the unborn child. The woman's feelings about it are irrelevant from a legal standpoint. If the fetus is not viable outside the womb, then it is not yet a person, and the woman may terminate her pregnancy. As soon as the fetus could live outside the womb, it is considered a person, and at that point the woman may not terminate the pregnancy. If the fetus were considered viable from day 1, then the government would have banned all abortions, because they are interested in protecting the baby and are not concerned with how the woman feels about it. That's how the Supreme Court came up with the abortion ruling. Medical testimony showed that the fetus can live outside the womb after 6 months. So they decided that states could not prohibit abortions in months 1-3 of the term. During months 4-6, states still could not prohibit them, but they could require that the mother have the abortion performed under stringent medical conditions. From months 7-9, states can prohibit abortions. I only brought this up because the issue is not the convenience of the woman. The issue is to protect the baby. Dom Fontana –> Sent from NY via AP <–

Dom- Well, you're right, but the issue of the woman's body does come into play, in that when the fetus is not viable, it is considered part of her body. In any case, I sure hope that the government doesn't suddenly decide that the fetus is a viable (or whatever) human from day 1. Paul – wearing my black construction paper funeral suit
