ANYONE,
I'm having a serious problem with my MAXTOR IDE 250Mb hard drive inside my
A1200. It is frequently locking up on me in situations where I have had to
access it. Instead of normal function I get a weird "boiiiingggg" sound
and then it locks up – sometimes for a quite a few seconds but at other
times completely so that I have to switch off the computer and restart
everything.
It is reoccuring with a regularity that makes the A1200 impossible to use
in any extended tasks and the problem occurs on every program including
workbench operations.
Has anyone had this problem? Can it be easily repaired or should I dump
the hard drive and buy a new one?
I also have an M1230XA 50mhz 68030 + 50mhz co-pro + 8Mb FastRam onboard.
I have used the virus checker to scan the disc and this frequently locks
up as well so am unable to ascertain whether I have a virus. I don't think
it's a virus as I have done nothing to introduce them to my system that I
am aware of.
