1970's with VM

Hal,
You and Michael are certainly progressing to the point where I think you
will be able to make a smart and informed decision, however I thought that
I might ask a question about your edit controller, the AmiLink.
Is your AmiLink the "C/I" version that only works with 1970s? Or is it
the full on Pro system that can support 1970s as well as RS-422 decks?

I have an old C/I version, and will be forced to upgrade it ( I have the
old Viewport? system, with just one box that goes between each deck, now
that I want to get three decks going, AmiLink told me they do not use the
Viewport boxes anymore ) to the new C/I system that does allow me to add a
new deck to the system. Since I am comfortable with AmiLink, I kinda
wanted to stay with it.
Will this Carlson mod work with that system, or will I have to upgrade to
the Pro system ? So far I have not had to be frame accurate but I may have
to in the future. Right now my aspirations are not that high, but I don't
want to shoot myself in the foot by picking the wrong setup, when for a
few bucks more I could have what I really need.
What do you think?

Hal,
Yes you will need to go to the new CIP system to get that third deck on
there. One option you might consider for that third deck is to get one of
the Sonys with built in RCTC. I think that Amilink should work with that.
It still won't give you frame accuracy but it will give you repeatability.
