An update on my experiences with the VVS system:
It turns out that the Disk Array was missing one part. After we had the time to
tune up the system and software, I am happy to report that we are now able to
capture at rates up to 5.1mb/s. The quality is much improved!
What amazed me was the quality of the low-end video we were getting before. At
rates as low as .5mb/s we can bring in video that while is completely
unacceptable for final production, makes a fully acceptable "proof print" for
our clients. These proof prints can then be exported as an EDL to our other
system, or directly in Premier with video captured at the higher rate.

off! I was not able to responde to everyone directly, but I have read all the
notes in this thread.
