Dave – Since I've gone through all the trouble to install 5.0a, I'm trying to stick with it. I'd probably be using Lattice right now, except that I left all my Lattice documentation back home – I'm on a temporary assignment away from home right now. If 5.0a bombs out on me some more, I'll probably be forced into using 3.6a.

Just a gentle suggestion Dave. If you're having problems w/ 5.0a, you might get them resolved quicker if you a) called Manx Tech support, b) uploaded some examples here on CIS, c) called the Manx BBS, d) fax us your problems. Until you try at least one of the three, I don't think you're really in a position to say whether the problems your experiencing are really yours or ours. I know calling tech support sounds like a radical suggestion, but try it – you'll like it 😎

I have tried Manx tech support in the past with *ABSOLUTELY* no good results. Examples have been posted on this forum.

When was the last time you contact Manx for tech support? Within the past year and a half we've done a tremendous amount of work in updating our support services, as I've mentioned before. If your opinions are based on times prior to this, then I'd suggest that your information is extremely out of date. In general, its impossible for us to help you if you don't wish to cooperate. I think its reasonable for us to request that you contact Manx about possible problems before broadcasting to the world that 5.0a is unstable. Such claims do nothing to fix the problems (if they are indeed problems), and serve only to inflame and agitate both parties (us and you).

Mike, while on the subject of prototypes, I might add that arguments for functions within functions are dropped as the following example illustrates. The prototype for void more( int (*function)( int mia ) ) { } is void more(int (*function)()); Where did "mia" go? P.S. I contacted Manx about 6 months ago, requesting comments on a review of a C product. Recieved no reply. About 8 months ago, asked for help tracking down a bug involving the FFS and Manx. Received no help. Etc., etc. I'm glad that you're trying to improve tech support. I hope your efforts are successful.
