Help!!! I've compiled the sources to COMM (found in Library 5), but I'm having a LOT of trouble getting file transfers to work. XMODEM times out and gives me "Bad block…." errors, and when my attempts in adding Quick B support have been even MORE of a failure (using the quickb sources in AmigaUser). I'm mostly interested in getting the B protocol to work. The program is correctly routed to bp_DLE, but after that it's a visit from the Guru!! I'm sure that my serial I/O has problems, but have also had some trouble in debugging. I'm using Aztec C 5.0A if that makes any difference. This project is going to be used mainly for my own needs (so I can work from home more), but I'll be happy to share my results if I can ever get this running the way I want <grin>!!! Thanks in advance!! John

John, Unless you just want to write your own term program based on Comm, there are term programs in Lib 5 of AmigaUser Forum that support B+ protocol (JRComm) and Access! (QB protocol).

Steve, Yep, I want to write my own terminal program. It doesn't neccessarily have to be based on Comm, but those were the only sources I found here to start from that already had most of what I wanted in it. I'm trying to write a pseudo-workstation to use for working at home. Right now at work I use an 80386 machine, but I know that the Amiga would make a much better WS environment. The reason I need Quick B, or any B variant for that matter, is becuase I work for CServe. If you have any other suggestions, please let me know! I'd like to get something running ASAP. Thanks, John

John, have you take a look at VLT? It uses XPR protocols, and has very powerful graphical terminal emulation. SLAC uses it to tie into their mainframes. Also, the XPR protocols (including the spec) are in the libraries. You might want to go that route for your own program. –Eet–

Jim, I have thought about using the XPR libraries, yes. I was hoping to get everything self-contained, but actually the ability to access several protocols might be nice!! I don't really need any special graphics abilities. What I _really_ need is a program with a script language powerful enough to accept strings from the user, parse them, and execute AmigaDos commands. Since I can't seem to find any, and I don't have AREXX yet (I'm still waiting for 2.0), it looks like I need to write my own program. But that's ok too, because it's about time I started learning how to program my Amiga, and get AWAY from the mainframes for a while <grin>!!! Thanks, John
