I have the opportunity to buy a used Mitsubishi Diamond Scan (model 1381)
and I would like to know if anyone here owns one and can comment on its
performance when used with an Amiga with a flicker fixer type device.
Specifically, I'd like to know if it can be adjusted to eliminate the black
border that is present when using some other multisyncs with a flicker
fixer.
Any additional info that can be provided on this monitor would be
appreciated.

I have overheard conversations that say a definite "NO" as far as the
MDS is concerned. I think they say that particular monitor is famous
primarily because it'll take all types of input.
From experience, I can recommend the Taxan 700+. It can be "stretched"
to cover all but about 1/4" on the right margin aligning w. the many video
test pattern programs available for the Amiga. Taxan is now direct order
and the price is about $440 for the 14" model. Also a PC Magazine
"Editors' Choice" about a year ago.

I have the Diamond Scan (14") hooked up to a flickerFixer and it works
great. There is a .5 to .75" black border on the left and right when the
controls are maxed out. The top & bottom have no border. The monitor is
great; another nice thing about it is that it is one of the only
inexpensive monitors that has a BNC composite video-in jack on the back –
great for plussing in a VCR, LaserDisk, Genlock, etc.

Thanks for the info on the Diamond Scan. The composite input is a definite
plus in its favor, though I was hoping I could also avoid the border
problem.
Since the monitor can step down to the NTSC scan rate, can I presume that
it would also work when connected to the 23-pin video port (if say I wanted
to bypass the FF/2320/etc when using the Super Hi-res and or productivity
modes)
The border really doesn't look that bad – you get used to it very quickly.
As for the scan rate, it should sync to whatever comes in the RGB port.
