#ProPage2.0 Problem
14 messages in this thread
I just got my 2.0 PP upgrade and am having problems with output. I dump to
an 1124 Panasonic printer with the CG fonts. The problem is I get some
garbage characters as output. I never had that problem with 1.31.
The only fix to the problem that I have found, is to change the point size
on the line with the error then change it back to the previous point size.
I have even tried deleting the files in the CGCACHE directory to no avail.
Any Ideas?? Norm
Is it possible it is an incompatibility with 1.31 files? You might want
to see if it only happens with old files.
I have the same problem (missing part or complete characters, overprintin
ones) With a new file. See message #14356 in another thread. I would like
to know about a solution if you found one, I will keep you inform on my
progress.
Good Luck Michel
I'm Andrew and I'm the Gold Disk rep on CIS. Are you using PPage
2.0a? There was a CGfonts to dot matrix problem very briefly in 2.0 but I
understood it to be fixed. Have you tried tech support?
Let me know more about it and I'll see if I can find out what's up. By the
way, it is very important that you install using the HDInstall program. If
you installed by copying the files, try the install program (click ONCE on
HDInstall , then twice on partition or drawer you want it in while holding
down the shift key). Let me know.
Andrew,
Does the PPage 2.0a HDInstall script work with WB2.0? I recently picked
up PPage 1.3 (haven't upgraded yet) and installing that under anything
other than virgin WB1.3 was nearly impossible. Also, please tell me the
little executable in the install script which checks to see if the correct
disk is in drive zero has been eliminated. I was having problems with
DF0:, but the old install script wouldn't allow the use of any other drive.
PPage is a great program, but I damn near returned it unused because of
that script.
Andrew: can those of us recently receiving our PPage 2.0 upgrades by mail
(in the last month or sooner) assume we're getting 2.0a rather than 2.0?
Andrew–
Although I don't have a hard disk yet, when I do I will be loath to just
click on an icon and let some programmer do things to it. I will MUCH
rather have a simple textfile that tells me where to put what. Please tell
the programmers to include that needed information for the paranoid
customers.
Jim,
OK, If you want to install it yourself, I'm sure tech support could
walk you through the very lengthy procedure, or mail you a written
description of the directoried, the files, and the assigns. I understand
the desire to control the process, but even I use the install exclusively.
Best of luck when you get a hard drive.
Andrew
Andrew–
We shouldn't *have* to make long distance calls. I am sure there is room
on the disk or in the manual for a one page tech insert that simply tells
the user what goes where, what needs to be assigned, etc. It's probably an
hour's work for someone to write this just before shipping the final
product. I think this should be standard practice.
Andrew,
Yes, I am using PPage 2.0 and did install it by using the HDInstall icon.
I have not tried tech support yet. I will give them a call. Norm
Norm,
let me know what happens. Thanks.
Andrew
Andrew,
I called Gold Disk technical support this morining. They said they
know there is still a bug with the CG fonts and dotmatrix ouput. They
suggested that I call back in a couple of weeks.
By the way, you can tell if you have the 2.0A version of PPage by
going into the menu and picking ABOUT. It will say 2.0A at the top of the
window that opens. I do have the 2.0A version. Norm
