#Buggy PPage 2.0A/bitmaps

Received a mesage on my phone from 'Lyn' at GoldDisk.
She said to set my stack to 10000, before running PPage.
I start PPage from the Shell, so people who start from the WB icon probably
would not have had this problem.
I tried it tonight and it works fine. YAY!!!!!!!!!.
How can I get my Startup sequence to give the Newshell I ask for a stack of
10000?
Boy, I sure HATE making stupid mistakes like that 😎

I believe if you add a statment to your Shell-Startup file (in the S:
directory) that says:
Stack 10000
that will cause your newshell to use that stack. I know it works when
starting a shell from either DMouse, or WB, but the newshell command itself
I really don't know, but would think it should work as well.

Thanx for the suggestion re: a stack statement in my shell-startup in the
s: directory. What I ended up doing was adding a " + Stack 10000 "
statement to the line that says " NewShell … " in my startupII script.
Seems to be working fine.
After so many years, it pays to re-read the docs, eh!

Hi I'm Andrew, your Gold Disk rep here on CIS. I'm glad to here the bitmap
problem was solved and was simple. Professional Page 2.0 is a complex piece
of programming and depends on many components (support files). We have had
a fair number of people report problems that relate more to proper
installation
or execution. Some people really like to copy the files themselves rather
than use the install. For version 2.0 (and 2.0a) the CGT and many other
small files changed so installing the program with the provided and much
improved HDinstall is really a good idea.
Otherwise, copy the files carefully and to the right places.
One other note to all.
Please delete the contents of your CGCache directory when upgrading or if
you experience display or printing problems. If your cache is old 1.3 or
2.0 before the "a" then this can be a big help. In order to rotate bitmaps
on the screen and for Dot Matrix it was neccessary to substantially change
the CGT and the cache files that it creates. needless to say, these old
caches can cause problems.
Our install may do this for you, but if you don't use it, or just to be
safe go ahead and delete the contents of CGCache dir, but not the
directory/drawer itself.

let me know if there are any more problems and I will try to help. I'm not
tech support, but I know a good amount about PPage as I use it everyday and
have been using 2.0 since early Oct during Alpha testing.
Andrew – I ordered my PPage update in early December, but have not yet
received it. Any idea why it is taking so long?

A few years back when PageSetter went to Pro-Page 1.0 I to placed a
regular upgrade order it took 61 days for it to arrive. The only thing
that I could possibly think of was that they (GD) sent it through the
regular mail from Canada to me in FL. Now with GD I always wait until I
see that someone here on CI$ has gotten it then I order mine by phone and
request that it be sent 2nd Day Air FedX and each and every update has
always arrived the next day (including 2.0). I firmly believe that this is
the only way to receive prompt updates from GD.

Like you, I placed my upgrade order for PPage2 back in early December –
by phone, the day after I got the upgrade notice. Even after hearing about
the date bug and subsequent shipping delay, I was really wondering what
happened to my upgrade. I even called them a couple of weeks ago, which
accomplished nothing.
Take heart, though. Finally, my upgrade showed up this past Tuesday.
What amazed me is that it came by regular USPS mail. I don't know, for
some reason I foolishly expected it to be shipped via UPS. I could've
sworn that was how my other upgrades were shipped.
Anyhow, it surely explains some of the delay. 😉
After seeing the mailing label, I think I'm lucky it arrived at all.
GD's phone rep obviously didn't have the registered user database in front
of her, since both my name and town were badly misspelled. I will give
credit to the USPS for managing to get it to me based solely on the street
address and zip code – the only things on the label that were correct.
